Notice of the repeal of the harmonized classification of titanium dioxide.
In its judgment of August 1, 2025, the Court of Justice of the European Union upheld the judgment of the General Court of November 23, 2022, annulling Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/217 in part, including the part concerning the harmonized classification of titanium dioxide as a category 2 carcinogen acting via the inhalation route.
Consequently, titanium dioxide in powder form containing 1% or more of particles with an aerodynamic diameter not exceeding 10 μm is not subject to harmonized classification as a category 2 carcinogen acting via the inhalation route.
